    • Discussion of photo project form - John Rhymes showed a Daxko examples in a photo

    • Wheels status
      • John put up money for it
      • Kurt has ordered them
  • Trae has installed bamboo gutters on his house.
    • Will write up a page with photos when project is complete.
    • Roof gutters installed, no downspouts yet.
    • Shawn has access to a source for blue food grade barrels for $20 each - will help Trae & others get them.

Proposals

  • To begin paying for Wild Apricot CRM month-to-month to finish evaluation.
  • Audrey, a visitor, came to see us to find out about homeschoolers using the space for maker activities. Audrey is organizing the parents, final shape & membership numbers to be determined.

Lab Host updates, feedback, parking requests

  • Trae has added QR codes to a lot of equipment in the space. If you have QR code reader software on your phone, you can read the code and go straight to the equipment page for manuals and information on how to use it.

    • Nearing completion.
    • Has a mural - can you tell who painted it? Feedback invited.

    • Call for nominations for Circuits Lab host
    • Discussion about what's involved in being a lab host
    • JC nominated Will Little as Circuit Lab host. Shirley seconded and Chris Lais thirded.
      • Vote taken - all present (10) in favor.
  • Fiber Lab
    • Emily Levitan referred a city resident, Ruth Trif
      • Ruth Truett, a long-time weaver, craftsperson and weaving community supporter, who is currently downsizing her home, has made a donation of materials and equipment to the space.
      • Need to send a thank you note. Shirley to print some out - with Celeste, to get the note out.
  • Meeting Room
    • Raspberry Pis are overheating - need cooling units.
      • Shawn suggested checking supply of units in Circuits lab - are quite a few.
  • Print Lab
    • No change
  • Shape lab
    • Shawn and Andrew C. moved out the mail sorter - can't be easily adapted for Shape Lab purposes. At back of the space, needs a new home.
    • Lock & Key still has to come and get the old safe.
    • Existing tile on floors to be encased or covered, not removed (as has been done elsewhere). Contains 7% asbestos. Not a hazard as long as it isn't disturbed.
    • James and Lynette volunteered to help construct the multi-tool flipping bench
  • Maintenance Room
    • Floor cleaning machine that was moved in there needs an electrical cord. Move back to hackzone until repaired. Important to keep this area accessible.
  • Communal space
    • Bathrooms need to be cleaned
  • Food Lab
    • The big stink - it was the kimchee.
    • It went bad.
    • Shirley requests that ALL members and makers leave contact information, either email or a phone number, with their projects to enable easy contact when problems develop.
  • Ceramics Lab proposal
    • Offer of kiln from Space One Eleven.
    • One of two kilns that they are looking to pass along.
    • Requires 320V electrical power supply for three plugs.
    • We have one 220 supply available, plus a regular outlet.
    • Would need to run a fume hood and vent out to the back to remove the heat.
      • Shirley asked that we ensure that the installation is in compliance with fire code, and that it be in secured area (away from potential young hands - potential liability for safety).
      • Trae asked Will Daniels about adding computer automation of the temperature control. Will said that it could be done.

  • Vestavia Chamber of Commerce
    • Update at board meeting.
    • Steven Wyss & Lynette Pope covering one year membership cost.
  • Educator grant update
    • Mailing done - lists built, 260 letters went out.
  • Women Who Code chapter initial meeting date, Monday, May 18th.
    • Shirley organizing, using space for kickoff, aiming to grow numbers of women programmers active in the region.
