Trae is going to be adding a timestamp module to the wiki to ensure that projects documented on the wiki establish a "prior art" status to ensure legal defensibility.

Proposals

Russell has made a proposal that things of some physical or financial value should have an email sent before being disposed of.
Require a group email before throwing things out - specific language to come.

  • Need a protocol to ensure that something valuable isn't thrown out.
  • Russell offered to by a three letter metal stamp to label tools,
  • Shirley suggested a color coded paint dab.
  • Trae suggested a walkthrough to review the Project Renaissance labels.

Lab Host updates, feedback, parking requests

    • Russell will take on duties as next communal space host August 5th
    • Responsible for hallways, maintenance room, receiving area opposite the electrical panel, adjoining nooks to hallways
    • JC will take on the communal space host role for September.
    • Shirley will ensure that a makerspaces best practices poster goes up in a hall once the hall walls are painted.

New LED lights installed above main meeting room worktable
Smartphone control chips still to come - much discussion of how the lights can be engineered to be movable.
Trae is working on shoes - hybrid tire sandals with flexible soles and leather interior.
Project: Member cubbies with name tags - price out. (Shawn & Shirley)

Proposals

Shawn - Monitor or board with I wanna teach/I wanna learn so that we can start gathering data as to which classes should be run first.
Shirley - Is really keen on the Lego NXT robotics.

Lab Host updates, feedback, parking requests

  • biolab - things look to be on hold regarding group activity until Ali comes back from overseas in August.
  • communal space host - tagged items selected for removal once James is back from Europe in two weeks. Beginning of August - removal date. Trae has a Suburban, needs a few extra hands. Shirley volunteered.
    • Stuff from area between the halls to be eliminated.
    • Asbestos removal - current ballpark estimate $1500 for back corner room.
  • computer lab - updates
  • circuits lab - - if you have projects in there, get them out - area being cleaned up and organized by Steven Wyss.

  • meeting rooms - new adjustable LED lights!
    • Playable game now on the LED matrix.

  • Shape lab - central shelves being cleared for an emergency medical station.
    • Delay in bringing in disc and belt sander - Shawn had some unexpected expenses come up.

    • Shirley working on implementing Wild Apricot class registration system and room booking system.
