  • Michael J., Heather, and Katie all interested in the current vacant room.
    • current demand out ways available space.
    • discussion of changes to Trae's room to a office/kitchen prep room with window to main room.
    • discussion of changes to kitchen, hack space.
    • some members present feel communal space is more beneficial to RMM overall
    • some members present feel finishing circuits lab (hopefully by end of Feb) better option rather than starting new renovation/modification projects
    • concern about if the loss of money from room rentals would allow us to cover monthly costs.
    • Michael want room for various projects he works on-little bit of everything, Heather wants it for cosplay costumes and other projects, Katie wants it or working on ceramics projects.
    • Mark currently has two room, doesn't intend to give either of them up but would be willing if needed.
    • Mykel has future plans to move out of his room once he has new place to store his stuff
    • Trae plans to move out of his room at some point.
    • should we increase room rates across the board by $15, OR should we increase all members rates, and by how much?
    • Shirley has projections for increased rates at 10% and 15%
    • currently retaining about 10 new key holders a year
    • if we don't currently keep our room rentals, and keep them full we will need to double yearly key membership retention.
    • currently empty room is being used for 1st Robotics storage, Heather is going to get the room starting Feb 1st, knowing that !st Robotics will be in there until the end of March. unless there are objections.


  • Shirley looking for people to join a finance committee, any one interested? There may be cheese cake in it for you.


Show-n-Tell Projects

  • 1st Robotics with Shawn and Kurt:
    • kids built a prototype
    • working on foam-core and design work/planning
    • worked on chassis
    • modification on a basic kit
    • mentors can still join if they are interested,talk to Kurt or Shawn.


  • the network works!


  • Trae will be meeting with Druid City Garden Project this week (after school program for Tuscaloosa High School students)
    • will be showing them how to use/build wiki based seed bank.
    • this builds off of Trae's seed bank project


  • Trae showed photos of his replacement process of the bottom of his garage door.
    • old door structure posed problems with finding wood the correct size.
    • build a workshop in his garage at a low cost (mostly found or salvaged tools!)
    • We now now what Trae's place looks like when we stumble across it in the woods.


  • Michael showed photos/video of his 650 L.E.D. lighted tree.
    • computer controlled individual L.E.D.s (controlling brightness and color)
    • Turns out the lighting pattern slowed down driver in the neighborhood.
  • Chris has finished the L.E.D. modules for the second matrix
    • need to figure out how we want to power them
    • how we want to keep them in place so the wires don't twist.

electronics in the Bio Lab need to be moved to the circuits Lab and Photo Lab BEFORE Jan 30th when there is a workshop/class in the Bio Lab
